Top TN Homeowners Insurance Coverages
Our Tennessee homeowners insurance comes with standard coverages, including:
Dwelling coverage to help protect your home and its attached structures. For example, if a tree falls on your roof during a storm, your Tennessee home policy can help cover your repair costs, up to your dwelling coverage limits.
Personal liability coverage which helps protect you if someone sues you and claims you’re responsible for their bodily injury or property damage. For example, if you’re cutting down a tree branch and it lands on your neighbor’s roof, this coverage can help with their repair costs.
Personal property coverage for help fixing or replacing damaged or destroyed belongings after a covered loss. For instance, if a fire damages your furniture, this coverage can help pay for the repair costs.
Other structures coverage to help cover your repair costs if buildings that are not attached to your home get damaged. For example, if someone loses control of their car and crashes into your fence, this coverage can help pay to have it fixed.
Medical payments coverage helps cover a person’s treatment costs if they get hurt on your property. So, if your friend trips down your stairs and hurts their leg, this coverage can help cover their medical bills.2
Loss of use coverage, which helps cover your living expenses if you can’t live in your home because of damages.** If frozen pipes burst and damage your walls, causing your home to be unlivable during repairs, this coverage can help pay your hotel fees.
Additional Tennessee Homeowner Insurance Coverages
When it comes to home insurance, Tennessee residents have unique needs. You may want to add more coverage to your home policy to increase your protection level. Fortunately, we make it easy for you to customize your homeowners policy. The following additional coverages are also available to Tennessee residents:
“New for Old” Protection‡ to help replace your destroyed possessions with brand new ones of the same quality.
Personal injury liability coverage, which helps cover damages from a libel or slander claim.
Identity fraud expense coverage to reimburse up to $25,000 of your out-of-pocket expenses, up to certain limits (see your policy for limits), if you’re a victim of fraud or identity theft.
Reimbursement for replacing locks if your keys get lost or stolen.
Disappearing Property Deductible,‡‡ which lowers your deductible each year when you go three consecutive years with a clean claims history.
Homeowners equipment breakdown coverage, which helps cover your costs to repair or replace home systems like heating and air conditioning after an electrical or mechanical breakdown. It also provides coverage if you want to make “green” upgrades. It pays up to 125% of your cost to replace any covered equipment with items that are similar, but more energy efficient or environmentally friendly. Keep in mind that coverage does not protect against normal wear and tear.

Enhanced identity fraud expense coverage covers up to $50,000 of your out-of-pocket expenses if you’re a victim of identity fraud.
Floods, Earthquakes and Tennessee Homeowners Insurance
Every state has some risk of earthquake damage.
3 In fact, about 90% of us live in areas that have earthquakes.
4 However, damages caused by earthquakes are not typically covered in a standard insurance policy. So, without the right coverage, if an earthquake damages your home, your Tennessee home insurance company won’t cover your insurance claims.
The same applies to flood damage. Tennessee residents can see their share of heavy rainfall. In fact, during the 2010 flood, record-breaking rainfall during back-to-back days led to flash floods and billions of dollars in property damage.5 Flood damage isn’t included in standard TN homeowners insurance coverages but you can buy it separately. Contact your local agent or get an online quote to find out how you can get earthquake or flood insurance.
