Personal property coverage to help protect your belongings if they’re damaged or destroyed after a covered loss.** If you file a claim, your Missouri home policy can help fix or replace your damaged property.

Personal liability coverage to help protect you from claims alleging that you’re responsible for someone else’s injury or property damage. This coverage can help pay for damages you’re held liable for from a covered loss.

Dwelling coverage to help protect your home and the structures directly attached to it, including your roof, flooring, walls and staircases.

Other structures coverage to help protect buildings on your property not attached to your house. This can help cover your repair costs if a tree falls down on your detached garage during a storm.

The average homeowners insurance rates continue to increase over the years. Remember that your Missouri home insurance rate may be higher or lower than the national average and that your insurance costs are unique to your Missouri home.

If you’re looking for homeowners insurance, be sure to:

  • Shop around for homeowners insurance quotes from different insurance companies. Prices and coverage vary with each homeowners insurance company.
  • Research insurance ratings from different companies to get an idea of what their customers think.
  • Review policy details and coverage levels to see what’s covered and what your coverage limits are.
  • Check for discount opportunities which may be available if you bundle different insurance policies with the same insurance carrier.

Inventorying Your Rooms & Property

Make sure you’re getting the most from your homeowners insurance. Missouri residents should review and update their home inventory once a year. This inventory list should include details of all of your personal property. If you don’t have one, review Missouri’s home inventory checklist to see how easy it is to create one. Start by taking notes of everything you have and be as detailed as possible.

  • Choose one room to cover first, then go room by room to make things more manageable.
  • Record the specifics of each item, including serial numbers, model numbers and purchase date and price.
  • Take photos of each item so you can see what the item looked like before any damages.
