Gene is a national columnist with years of experience. In the past he’s contributed to The New York Times and The Washington Post. He’s now an active contributor to The Hill, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Forbes, Entrepreneur, The Washington Times, Accounting Today and The Guardian. He also regularly writes articles for The Hartford and its Small Biz Ahead blog.
On top of being a columnist, Gene is also a best-selling author. He’s written six books on business management for small and medium sized companies. His most recent book is “Want More Cash? 100+ Ideas and Strategies For Increasing Your Company’s Cash Flow This Year.”
Nationally, Gene appears on Fox Business, MSNBC and CNBC. He also discusses financial and economic issues that are impacting firms on Sirius/XM’s “Wharton Business Channel” and “The John Batchelor Show.” Gene also hosts the “Small Biz Ahead” podcast for The Hartford, where he leads interviews with small business professionals.
Gene further spreads his expertise as a well-known keynote speaker. He shares tips for navigating new political, economic and technological trends that impact companies. His knowledge helps business owners grow and continue to profit.
In 1994, Gene established The Marks Group PC, a ten-person firm that continues to provide consulting services to small and medium sized businesses today. The Marks Group has helped more than 600 companies and thousands of individuals across the country.
Gene is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and spent more than nine years in the entrepreneurial services arm of the international consulting firm KPMG in Philadelphia where he was a Senior Manager.
