Best Practices

The Hartford’s Broker of Record (BOR) Process Is Simple

How to Request a BOR

Request a Broker of Record (BOR) Change for business policies online.

  • Submit a Broker of Record Request
  • View Broker of Record Guide
  • Helpful Tips:
    • Submit all BORs to Producer Code 76250717.
    • Make sure you search for your appropriate NPN.
    • If you need to submit your BOR letter with changes, attach an additional page to the signed BOR letter indicating the changes needed. This would only be temporary as we are working to add this field.

Expected Turnaround

For business moving from another Payroll Alliance agent, most requests will be fully processed in two (2) business days. On the last booking week we make every effort to turn these around on the same day.

For business moving from a traditional agent, most requests will be fully processed as follows:

  • The notification of the current agent will be processed within two (2) business days.
  • There is a 5 business day rescinding period that can only be waived by the current agent.
  • After the expiration of the full rescind period, the rewrite of the policy will be completed within two (2) business days.
  • License validation may be needed. In all instances, you’ll receive an email notification once the BOR has been processed; typical turnaround time is 24 hours.
  • For questions regarding a BOR in progress, call 866-225-7966, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday.
