Research & Thought Leadership
We have conducted groundbreaking research, in collaboration with distinguished academic partners on home and driving safety for adults age 50 and older and their families. Our research results produce insights and innovations that are integrated into the way we do business; and public education materials that benefit the customer and the public by promoting quality of life, safety, and independence.
Safe Driving for a Lifetime
Beginning in 1999 we conducted original research with the MIT AgeLab to help drivers age 50 and older to remain safe behind the wheel. Our multi-method research approach has explored topics such as family conversations with older drivers, dementia and driving, comprehensive driving evaluations, vehicle technology and exercise and driving.
Home for a Lifetime
Our home related research concentrates on topics most relevant to homeowners achieving their goal of protecting their home and family. We’ve partnered with the USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology to research and produce information on universal design features to make homes safer and more comfortable. With the MIT AgeLab, we've studied the benefits of smart home technology, home maintenance, decision making and disaster preparation.
Customer Solutions
We partner closely with The Hartford’s product team to share our mature market insights to create innovative insurance product features that uniquely meet the needs of customers age 50 and older. Examples include RecoverCare, Comprehensive Driving Evaluation Coverage, and the patented Replacement Plus or Easy Living Upgrade Coverage.
Education Programs
We have developed and delivered specialized education on the age 50 and older market for over three decades. Each year through innovative programs thousands of Hartford staff participate in programs that equip them with the knowledge and skills to more effectively sell to and serve mature customers and enhance employee satisfaction.
