COVID-19 Control and Prevention
Even though states have reopened, the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing. That’s why it’s important to make sure your construction workers and subcontractors are safe.
There are different process control steps you can take to keep your employees safe from virus exposure. Learn three exposure control plans you can use today.
Process Control in the Office and at Work Sites
It’s important to follow guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. To help limit your employees’ COVID-19 exposure, follow these process control tips:
- Maintain 6 feet of separation whenever possible
- Stagger work schedules to reduce the total number of employees at a job site
- Screen employees as they arrive through health questionnaires or temperature checks
- Develop a health plan that tells your employees what to expect if they test positive for COVID-19
Make Sanitation Practices Part of Your Exposure Control Plan
Incorporating sanitation practices at your business can help keep your employees safe. Some steps you can take are:
- Instituting a rigorous cleaning schedule before and after work hours
- Making sanitizer and disinfectant wipes available for your employees
- Disinfecting frequently touched surfaces, such as door handles
Train Your Employees on Proper Exposure Control
Training sessions can help your employees learn about the pandemic and ultimately keep them safe. Hold sessions for your employees to discuss:
- Sources of exposure to the virus
- How to isolate if they think they have COVID-19 or other infectious diseases
- Proper use of PPE and how to inspect it for damage
